Scottish Government Planning Review Consultation

On the 10th January 2017, Kevin Stewart MSP, Minister for Local Government and Housing, launched “Places, people and planning: a consultation on the future of planning in Scotland.”  The consultation paper is available to view online at: http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2017/01/3486   Associated research has been published alongside it.  The updated participation statement is also now available.

Responses to the consultation should be submitted to Planning and Architecture Division of the Scottish Government by 5pm on Tuesday 4 April 2017.

The consultation paper “Places, people and planning” sets out 20 proposals for change which aim to strengthen the planning system.   The Scottish Government are keen to hear all stakeholders’ views, therefore would be grateful if you could help to raise awareness of the consultation and to encourage your community council to respond.

The Scottish Government have produced a short guide for Community Councils and would be grateful if you could please circulate this to members of your community council.  The guide will be published on http://www.communitycouncils.scot/ and https://beta.gov.scot/policies/planning-architecture/reforming-planning-system/.

Further to this, the Scottish Government will also be announcing some events across Scotland shortly, where members of the team will be available to discuss the proposals contained within the consultation paper.  The events will be published on our website https://beta.gov.scot/policies/planning-architecture/reforming-planning-system/ and advertised through our twitter (@scotgovplanning) and ealert system (https://register.scotland.gov.uk/Subscribe/Step1).
